Archbishop Martin Currie

Archbishop Ordained to the priesthood in his home town of Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia on May 12, 1968 his life as an ordained priest has taken Archbishop Martin Currie from his home province of Nova Scotia to Peru and back to his home diocese.

On December 12, 2000, Monsignor Currie was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Grand Falls, NL. Upon his Episcopal Ordination on January 31, 2001, he became the eighth bishop of the Diocese.

During 2006 and 2007, in addition to serving as the Bishop of the Diocese of Grand Falls he was also named Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Saint John, New Brunswick.

His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI named Most Reverend Martin William Currie as the head of Archdiocese of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador on October 17, 2007. He was installed as the Archbishop of St. John's on Friday, November 30th, 2007 at the Basilica – Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.
